Commencement Update - May 25th, 2022

The Commencement Ceremonies for both Dow High School and Midland High School have been postponed.

Currently, our rain date is set for tomorrow, May 26th at Dow Diamond with the originally planned start times (Dow:4 pm/Midland: 7:15 pm) Our hope is the weather will allow us to hold our commencements outside. However, the forecast looks quite ominous tomorrow. If this is the case, the ceremonies will be moved to the high school gymnasiums. Dow High will hold their ceremony at 5 p.m. in the main gym. Midland will hold their ceremony in their main gym at 6 p.m.

If the ceremonies are held indoors, tickets will be required to attend. There is no reserved seating. Handicap accessible seating is available. Doors will open one hour prior to the Commencement Ceremony.

All decisions on the final location will be communicated tomorrow morning.

Principals Message

Tiela Schurman It is with tremendous excitement and with great privilege that I serve as principal for the students, staff, and community of Midland High School. Each day we strive to support and educate the whole child-maintaining rigorous academic curriculum as well as meeting the social-emotional needs of all students. We aim to cultivate a safe learning environment where we ensure an equitable, collaborative and inclusive culture is achieved. Midland High School is a community rich in tradition where the well-being of our students and staff is priority. It is imperative that all students feel they belong and are connected. We are devoted to enabling all to achieve success and thrive.

Each year MHS students demonstrate spectacular outcomes in both career and college readiness. Our tradition of excellence can be evidenced by continued academic excellence on both state and national assessments This success is a reflection of the student's commitment to learning, a hardworking and innovative staff, and a supportive community.

I am honored to be a part of the CHEMIC team!
