All classes of employees are eligible except the following:
Seasonal employees, or
Any class of employees which has been specifically excluded from this plan.
Date Coverage Is Effective
Coverage under the plan shall become effective with respect to an eligible employee and eligible dependents on the first day of the month following the first day of full time employment.
For the purpose of this plan, a participant's dependent is any person as defined in the “Eligible Classes of Dependents” section of the MPS Insurance Administrative Guidelines.
Enrollment Status Changes
For changes to enrollment, employees should call or email the Benefits Specialist, Kim Wood at email@example.com to inform MPS of the change (birth, death, marriage, divorce, loss of dependent status, change in address or phone number, etc.). Appropriate insurance companies will then be notified by the Benefits Specialist. Changes must be made within 31 days of the date of the event.

Midland Public School’s employee retirement plans are handled by the Office of Retirement Services in Lansing, MI. New hires need to make a retirement election within 75 days of their first paycheck. Log on to miAccount with the Member ID you receive from the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) to view your retirement election and years of service. There is a retirement calculator as well as the form to apply for retirement available at this website. If you have lost or forgotten your Member ID or password you can request the information at the website. The ORS employee services number is 1-800-381-5111 or you can use the miAccount Message Board.
